Adart Book is an independent quarterly magazine devoted to photographing men's faces and bodies. Each issue brings together five men, for five editorial encounters, between intimate portrait and nude.
The project
ADART BOOK was born from an observation: queer photography of the male body circulates quickly and disappears just as fast. Each issue takes the opposite approach with 5 encounters—from clothed portraits to full nudity, depending on what each encounter calls for—that form a visual narrative.
The men photographed are not professional models; for some it is their first time in front of a lens. The gaze is openly that of a photographer looking at men who agree to be looked at, for a beauty they are not always aware of.

The photographer
ADART has been photographing men for several years. His work is made in France, in Paris and elsewhere, following travels and encounters. After studying applied arts, he founded ADART PARIS in 2026. Learn more
The influences
For twenty-five years, a handful of independent magazines have reinvented the way men are photographed — far from airbrushed bodies and professional models.
BUTT, founded in Amsterdam in 2001 by Gert Jonkers and Jop van Bennekom, paved the way by publishing portraits by Wolfgang Tillmans in its very first issue, printed on its famous pink paper. Love, launched in 2015 by Liam Campbell, dedicates each issue to a city and its inhabitants, who are photographed and invited to write their own text. Meat, in London, photographing ordinary men without retouching. Boys! Boys! Boys!, directed by gallery owner Ghislain Pascal, champions queer photography as a distinct artistic practice in its own right.
ADART BOOK is part of this tradition, with its own distinct difference. A French magazine, made in Paris, entirely self-produced.

Who are the models?
Men met during photo shoots in Paris, Lille, and elsewhere. Some already had experience in front of the camera, while others were posing for the first time.
How many photos does an issue contain?
It varies depending on the issue. Around 90 photographs, spread across 5 series, one per model.
Does the magazine contain nude photographs?
Yes. Adart Book combines clothed portraiture, underwear, and male artistic nudity. Sales are restricted to adults.
Is Adart Book available on a subscription basis?
No, for the moment, the magazine is only available for single-issue purchase
Do you ship internationally?
Yes, it is possible to order and have items delivered worldwide. I use a network of printers that makes it possible to print and ship as close as possible to the delivery location, in order to keep delivery times very short.
