Kevin Hung XL poses for ADART PARIS

Kevin Hung XL posed for ADART Paris. The series appears in the second issue of Adart Book, available since August 10, 2026.

The meeting

The meeting took place in July, in Montreuil, during one of his trips to Paris for a shoot. A summer day, a few hours, and a shared desire to make images that reflect who he is.

He made a name for himself by its own content and is filming today for established studios like Citébeur. In front of my lens, something else was at stake: a body built, maintained, and owned — and a fully clothed series that looks at it the way one looks at an athlete's.

The photo shoot

Two moments, two lights. Inside first, in the subdued light of a bedroom. Then outdoors, against the light: the sun behind him, the silhouette standing out, the outlines taking precedence over the details. Sportswear and a swimsuit, nothing else.

The imagery is that of the locker room and the field — jersey, shoulders, the back of the neck, fatigue after exertion. A proudly claimed French lineage, that of sports calendars which, starting in the 2000s, established a way of photographing the male body that is both direct and devoid of provocation.

What the series reveals is not just the athlete. It is a presence: he occupies the frame without conceding anything, holds the gaze, decides what he shows. Few models arrive with that kind of assurance, and it changes the way one photographs.
